About Me

Hey there! My name is Jordyn. I am married to an amazing husband and father, Dakota. We just started our little family June 30th, 2020 when our beautiful baby girl, Adalei Rae, was born. This year has taught me so many things. It hasn't been a very easy one to say the least. I spent half the year pregnant during COVID and the other half dealing with the struggles of becoming a new mom. I quickly learned that postpartum depression and anxiety were extremely real, but yet, no one ever seemed to talk about it more than just in passing. So I am here to hopefully change that a bit! I hope you will join me in my journey of living with PPD and PPA as well as everything I have learned and am learning everyday.

How I Got Started

My goal is to use this platform to talk about my experience with PPD and PPA (postpartum depression and anxiety). Both are VERY real and yet they are RARELY talked about. I am hoping to help change that. I know I am just one person, but my goal is to be able to start this blog as a way to not only talk about some of the things I have gone through, but to find out other mom’s stories as well.
Going through pregnancy and labor is hard enough as it is and then to add trying to look like that “perfect” mom, it’s just not a good time. There are so many women out there that are dealing with PPD and PPA and we yet, we don’t talk about it enough! It isn’t something you can just ‘get over’ and it isn’t just the “baby blues”. These are things that 1 in 7 mom’s are dealing with. But yet, it is still so taboo to talk about. Why is that??
Mental Health is such a HUGE deal, and yet we are so scared to talk about it… It’s like it means we are broken or something… even though I am sure you know at least 1 person who is battling silently beside you.
I may only be 1 person, but I really hope that this blog can help someone else feel not so “weird” and be able to reach out and get the help they need. I hope it helps us all normalize talking about mental illness as a whole and not just trying to ignore it. It is so so so real and needs to become a more normal thing for people to talk about.
So please bare with me on this new journey for me. I hope that you will all be able to find some sort of helpful information while you read along on my battle.
